In this episode, we’ll go through the benefits of starting your business online, but we also want to help you understand what’s holding you back from pursuing your dreams. You don’t need to work for someone else or be reliant on the next paycheck to get by. You can work for yourself AND live comfortably.
What we’ve found in growing our own businesses and helping our students grow theirs is that half the battle comes down to navigating mental roadblocks and restrictions that influence your belief systems. We hope that you’ll see that entrepreneurship is possible for anyone who is willing to go the extra mile.
When people think of “starting a business”, they can get caught up in the idea that they must put in a lot of investment financially. However, because creating an entirely online business is possible in the digital age, many of these classic “brick and mortar” overhead costs are eliminated. For example, Zazzle, the platform that we use, operates on a “print by demand” system. The inventory doesn’t exist until the customer buys it, which means that the overhead costs can be virtually non-existent.
Starting your own business means you don’t need to worry about clocking in and out. You have the flexibility to work when and where you want to. You don’t need to sacrifice the things that are important to you, because you have the opportunity to work at a time that fits best with your schedule. Additionally, taking time off to spend time with family and friends is possible without having to seek permission or neglect responsibilities, since your business can be working for you as passive income. You can step away, and your business will continue generating income for you.
Passive income is not a fallacy. It is possible to make money while you aren’t physically at the computer. It takes work and maintenance, but you can take time for yourself without worrying about income. Without the constraints of physical space and hours worked, you can capitalize on flexible business hours. You can sell all over the world at any time.
Running an online business means that you can work from wherever you want in the world. That could mean on a beach, or in the mountains, or even on an airplane. The flexibility of working from wherever there is wifi gives you unlimited opportunity to travel, work remotely, and work anytime you want. Additionally, you can work in an environment that suits your productivity.
Working a job that has a defined salary or hourly income means that the potential for growth is limited. However, starting your own online business on a platform like Zazzle makes it possible to grow tremendously. Your business will reflect the work you put into it, and there is no cap off to what you can accomplish.
