Check Your Blind Spots in Business: The Importance of Knowing What You Don’t Know

In this post, I (Jen) am diving into how business owners need to know what they don’t know in order to find success and growth over time. While it may sound counterintuitive to “know what you don’t know,” it’s actually a huge benefit to you to do this as much as you can. Recognizing your blind spots in business is so important in helping you evolve your business and in finding new ways to innovate what you’re doing.

The more you practice knowing what you don’t know, the easier it will be!

How Expanding Your Knowledge Helps You

The truth is that sometimes we limit ourselves without even knowing we’re doing it. Learning and absorbing new information and knowledge helps us grow, and if you don’t know something, it could potentially hinder your online business. But the problem is – how do you know exactly what you don’t know?

Expanding your knowledge helps you reach your goals faster and raises your potential. That’s because the more you know, the more opportunities you recognize in front of you. It opens up a world of possibilities, which is an amazing thing.

I have personal experience where this positively affected my life in a huge way. Many moons ago, Elke began searching for a way to make money online. She had no idea that Zazzle existed, but because she knew she needed to educate herself on what she could do to create an income in an online space. That’s when she found Zazzle. Had she not expanded her knowledge in that way, I’d never be here, with a successful Zazzle storefront or even doing this podcast.

Why You Should Try a Different Approach

You’ve probably heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again with the same results. It causes MAJOR frustration. We’ve seen it a lot on Zazzle – storefront owners are continuously trying the same thing again and again and getting the same results. They want to make more sales, but their use of the same tactic is preventing that.

This is something that happened to me and Elke when we first started selling on Zazzle. It was beyond frustrating and it made me want to give up on the platform at times. But that’s why we offer our program now – because we know how it feels to keep getting that same result and not knowing where to go from there.

Learning a different approach can help you attain growth and a new level of success in your business – you just need to open yourself up to knowing what you don’t know and use that as a jumping-off point to learn a new way of doing things.

Knowing What You Don’t Know as a Business Tool

You don’t know what you don’t know. On a personal level, I came to realize that I didn’t know everything I needed to from a business standpoint for my Zazzle storefront. While I was great at designing and generating ideas, I wasn’t in the nitty-gritty of the analytics – and I needed to be.

Once I opened myself up to that facet of my business that I didn’t know, I was able to start learning about it and protecting myself against that blindspot. This prompted more success.

On Zazzle, knowing your blind spots in business can help SO much. It will allow you to find new products and learn things about the platform that you had no idea were even in the realm of possibility.

This goes to say that it’s so important to learn and explore different perspectives and allow yourself to have educational takeaways from them.
