Finding Your Niche: Take the time to identify your interests, likes and style.

When you create your Zazzle store, you might ask, “How do I even start to find the profitable niche that I can use to start making money online with Zazzle?” The first thing we want to tell our students, when they ask us this question, is to look into what your interests are and the activities you enjoy. What kind of daily activities do you do? What do you gravitate towards? Is there a certain type of music, book, or tv show in particular that you really enjoy? These niches are the easiest to create Zazzle products for, because you already have knowledge of the subject.

Think about the hobbies you have, because you can make products for these niches such as yoga, martial arts, weddings, special occasions, sports, politics, etc.  The list goes on and on.

What trips people up when choosing a niche is that a niche can be so many things. It can be a specific hobby, certain areas of interest or a design style. Figure out what things peak your interest and you enjoy doing. When you have determined what these things are, you can pick a niche for your Zazzle store that you will truly love and enjoy creating for.

Finding Your Niche: A common mistake people make when it comes to determining a niche is simply picking a popular trend because they assume it will sell.

A lot of people see things on the Zazzle home page or check out what’s currently popular on the Zazzle Marketplace to choose their niche. They want to make Zazzle products within that topic or niche just because it’s being popular and they assume it will sell. However, it’s not truly something they are passionate about. More often than not, Zazzle designers who do go this route don’t become profitable or find that it’s sustainable. They don’t know exactly what goes on within the niche they’ve chosen and they don’t have much background knowledge, making it difficult for them to create products efficiently and easily. They’re only limited to what they see on the Zazzle homepage or marketing websites.

Zazzle is a multimillion-dollar company, things are constantly selling that aren’t always shown on the homepage. If you’re a Zazzle designer trying to figure out what’s popular or trending, you can, of course, utilize the Zazzle homepage to determine what to sell. However, if those things do not resonate with you, then don’t put yourself in a position where you try to make products in a niche that you are not familiar with just to make sales. Ultimately, this will result in a store that is very disconnected, your brand will not be consistent. It will be very difficult for you to find sustainability, because you will always be chasing trends.

Finding Your Niche: If you want to get into a particular niche on Zazzle that is not your expertise, you have to find a way to acquire those skill sets.

Your skillset is a factor to consider when you are finding your niche. You need to be confident in your ability to deliver a high quality product design. If you want to get into a particular niche on Zazzle, you have to either already have the skills required to perform or find a way to acquire those skills through courses and training. You have to take into consideration the quality of the design which you can provide to your customer that would entice them to purchase your product. It’s one thing to pick a niche, but you need to ensure your product is desirable and of good quality. This also means you have to give yourself grace and know that if you aren’t seeing sales, maybe your designs aren’t the greatest. You may need to get  help. That’s okay!

If you realize you may need to improve your designs and knowledge about what the customer wants, reach out and get the training you need. Our students in The Profit by Design Academy™ receive A LOT of help to create designs. We want to make sure you shine in your niche and deliver what your customer wants. This doesn’t mean, for example, you have to create completely new artwork or photography. It means you need to learn how to add your design to the Zazzle products to make them desirable for the customer. It all starts with picking a niche that you can be excited about and also be able to create high quality designs on products that people want to purchase.

Finding Your Niche to Make Money on Zazzle: The Key Takeaways

When it comes to finding your niche to make money online with Zazzle, you want to make sure it’s something you have knowledge on, you can deliver high quality designs and have double-checked to make sure there is a demand for your products. For example, if there are people interested, that’s a sign that there is demand. The key is to ask yourself if there are enough people in the world searching for products in the niche you have chosen for your Zazzle store.
