1- Cost

Zazzle vs Society6

Cost - Zazzle vs Society6

The first factor we’re looking at is cost. There’s no cost to sell on either of these platforms, so neither wins out over the other. Although, Society6 will charge your PayPal account $1 upon joining for verification purposes.

Ease of Use - Zazzle vs Society6

The next factor we want to discuss is ease of use. Society6 is great for artists and graphic designers, as it allows you to upload a design once and it’ll automatically be applied to all items that fit the criteria. For instance, it takes into account the dimensions of your design and so on. This makes it very easy to add designs to programs.

This could be a good or a bad thing, depending on your preferences. That’s because if you don’t have the graphic set to be the right size, it could end up distorted. Or, it could cause you the need to individually edit and modify the same design time and time again to fit the different product dimension criteria.

Zazzle has a bit more of a manual process, but it allows you to individually tag and title each item with the right keywords, which makes your products more searchable.

Customer Reachability - Zazzle vs Society6

Next up is – how many customers can you reach on each platform? Zazzle is the clear winner on this one, as Society6 has 5.2 million visitors per month. On the other hand, Zazzle has 17 million monthly visitors. That’s quite a difference,  right?!

Earning Potential - Zazzle vs Society6

Now let’s talk about the different earnings potential on each of these POD platforms. For Society6, there’s a base royalty of 10 percent. This can’t be altered for most product sales, but for sales of canvases and art prints, you can adjust the royalty to meet your specifications.

On the other hand, Zazzle allows you to adjust your royalty on any item. This means there’s a better earning potential on this platform. Plus, Zazzle offers more bonus commissions. While Society6 offers a flat 10 percent affiliate income, Zazzle offers a 15 percent affiliate plus up to 35 percent when you drive traffic to your own products. That means you can make MUCH more profit on just one sale on Zazzle.

Product Availability & The Opportunity to Curate - Zazzle vs Society6

While Society6 has 87 different products on their site, Zazzle has an impressive 1500. That’s another big difference between these platforms, as Society6  is a lot more limited in categories and actual items available for sale.

Another difference is that once you upload a design to Society6, it will automatically apply it to all items the image meets the criteria for and list it for sale in your shop. On Zazzle, it’s way easier to pick and choose what items you want to add designs to and sell in your storefront.

That fact gives Zazzle sellers the ability to curate their brand nicely, choosing what they want to apply designs to and sell. Not every niche can be served, so being choosy with the products you sell can help you to create that cohesive brand you strive for.

Customization - Zazzle vs Society6

On Society6, there’s no room for customization. Customers have no option to add additional things to your designs, such as text, graphics, or monograms.  On Zazzle, customers can effectively manufacture their own designs based on your template, thanks to the custom design tool. This is a black and white difference between these platforms.

Market or Niche Served - Zazzle vs Society6

So, who’s being served and attracted on each of these platforms? Society6 is a more artistically based website that features many patterns, designs, and graphics. As we mentioned, they’re not customizable. That means you may spend hours making these designs or art, but you really have only one chance to sell them. It’s all based on whether the customer likes it or doesn’t and whether they buy or don’t.

Also, Society6 is more of a place for sellers to focus on trendy designs and to sell whatever the current “big thing” is.

On Zazzle, there’s a lot more room for customization of products so that customers can tweak your designs if they don’t love it exactly how it is. Even if they do that, you still receive a royalty from their purchase.

Zazzle also is a great place to sell both trendy products and evergreen products, which can be more time-effective for you and generate a more reliable passive income.
