There’s life after retirement, AND there’s room for a new business venture to boot! Our client Denise is a prime example of that as a retired school teacher who’s now generating a passive income through her Zazzle storefront. This post is all about her story on the platform and how she started Zazzle’s business after retirement.
About five years ago, Denise discovered Zazzle by accident. From that discovery, she’s been able to not only generate a passive income after retirement, but completely replace her teacher salary thanks to the platform. Impressive, right?
As she prepared to retire, she was looking for a side hustle that could provide that passive income. Zazzle was just the ticket! After starting her storefront, she went through our 7 Days to Success program. By the end of 2017, she qualified for her first Zazzle payout and in 2018 she started gaining momentum, earning $500.
She had an intentionally slow start on the platform because she was still teaching and was really looking to build that strong foundation for her Zazzle business before officially retiring.
Once Denise retired, she went all in on her Zazzle storefront and began applying all of the things she learned with us, fully realizing that this side hustle doesn’t magically produce a passive income – you have to put in the work to get to that place. That’s exactly what Denise did.
From there, Denise began earning more and more through her Zazzle online business:
– 2019 – almost $3k
– 2020 – $5k
– 2021 – $14k
– 2022 – $54k thus far
Proving that there is a lot to do to make a passive income after retirement, Denise is amazingly on track to make the same salary as what she made as a teacher. That’s something she’s really proud of – as are we!
Denise explained that it feels great to contribute the same amount as she has in years prior to their family budget, and working on Zazzle is a nice way to feel productive. Beyond that, her storefront is growing, and there are only more great things to come for Denise.

While she may have, at one point, thought that she was “too old” to own a Zazzle storefront and earn a passive income after retirement, she’s realized that nothing could be further from the truth. Her motto? The time is going to pass anyway, you might as well start now!
To do this right, Denise recognizes the importance for anyone embarking on a Zazzle venture to get the right training from the professionals to get that solid foundation. From there, it’s up to you to believe in yourself.
Denise doesn’t have a background in graphic design or art, but she has found a way to make this platform work for her, further proving it can be a wonderful business for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Denise feels more secure in her retirement now that she’s generating a passive income, especially given that she’s on track to replace her teacher salary or even surpass it.
Knowing she and her husband don’t have to rely on the theory of their investments performing as they hope and having something tangible to fall back on has been a huge asset. It’s allowed her to be less concerned about cutting back and watching every penny, which is comforting as well.
She even hopes to help take some of the worry surrounding retirement off her husband’s shoulders, as when he eventually calls it quits from his 9-5, she is confident her Zazzle business can help make up for some of his income, too.
Believe it or not, her Zazzle business doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy her retirement, either. Denise is about to be her own boss, work limited hours each month, and pursue other interests. That’s REALLY the dream if you ask us!
Denise has been able to live her dream life and have the freedom to stop and smell the roses thanks to her Zazzle business. It has created passive income after retirement. This is a lifestyle she didn’t even know was possible previously, and she loves the freedom it’s provided her.
The systems and processes we teach in our programs are something Denise highly attributes to her success, and we’re so glad for the new lease on her working life that Zazzle has given her.
