After retiring, our client Michele Davies was ready to pursue a new path in her life. That path was Zazzle! This post is all about the new direction her life took after she retired and attended our retreat in Mallorca and decided to start online business after retirement. This was a major turning point for her, and she has an incredible story to share.
After Michele retired, she was seeking a new creative outlet that could also help her generate a retiree income. So to start online business after retirement, she joined Zazzle and, for the first few months, found it to be a daunting process.
But that’s where our retreat came in! She went on the trip of a lifetime to our retreat in Mallorca, and this was her chance to learn about the Zazzle platform. That trip is what gave her the confidence that she could really make an income on Zazzle.
Through her Zazzle journey, Michele had to push herself to be more tech savvy. This part of the process was accompanied by a lot of self doubt for her, but it also came with many opportunities.
For years, Michele had been trying to sell textiles. She didn’t see much success with this, but once she started putting her passion for textile work on Zazzle by learning a new method of doing so through the computer, it really changed her life.
We so often forget that these technological opportunities aren’t just for young people – they’re for everyone. That’s something that Michele touched on when she came onto a recent episode of our podcast. Michele learned how to scan, resize her watercolors and physical artwork to make it beautiful on the digital space. It takes a lot of talent to do that, and it opens up a world of possibilities! That’s an empowering message for people of all ages.
Michele also had to push herself through her Zazzle journey to ask questions and recognize that there were things that she didn’t know. By doing this, she came to the realization that it’s important to believe that the end goal is worth it, and from that belief, you can always find a way.
Since she realized she needed to ask questions and simultaneously didn’t even know what questions to be asking, she found a lot of value in our Profit by Design Academy community. That’s because she was able to hear the questions of others and learn from them – just as they were able to do the same from her questions and reflections!
She noted that in just six months, you may not be able to ramp up your entire income on Zazzle, but you can build a solid foundation as an online business owner and start beating the learning curve. Those initial six months are also enough to help you decide if you like doing it.
Michele dished out some advice for others in situations similar to hers on our podcast. She said that anyone considering this venture has two choices: to do it, or to not. And to decipher which is right for you, she explained, you need to ask yourself how badly you want it and how much you’re prepared to put into it. You also need to think through what joy you’ll get from it.
The truth is that Zazzle has given Michele more than a retiree income – it’s also helped her personally develop, realize her work ethic, and believe in herself. Those are powerful lessons! We’ve loved watching her growth and confidence – and we know that she has so much more greatness to come along her Zazzle journey.
