Jen and Elke Clarke | 5 Ways to Thrive While Working at Home During Coronavirus

Working at home has so many advantages as an online entrepreneur. But now the rest of your family is also at home due to events caused by Coronavirus. Or your company has told you to work from home, which is not something that you are used to. At first, it’s kind of fun, but soon you realize that things can go downhill quickly if you let them. My daughter, Jen Clarke, and I, Elke Clarke, have been thriving (we’re talking 7-figures) “working at home” for over 10 years. In this article, I am sharing the 5 ways we continue to thrive so that you can use these ways as well during these crazy times caused by Coronavirus. Read on!!

1. Keep Your Mind Healthy with Meditation, Daily Gratitude, and Daily Positive Inspiration

Meditation and breathing exercises not only help boost your immune system but it is a total stress reliever. Take at least 10 minutes a day to meditate. Or at least do your best to keep your mind quiet and clear of thoughts. Or take 2 to 5 minutes to take deep breaths. That’s it! So simple and yet so powerful. You can just feel the tension disappear. Go for it!

Daily gratitudes and journaling are awesome ways to become clear on what’s important in your life. But if journaling is not your thing, then all you need to do is say what you are grateful for to yourself in your head or out-loud in the morning before you get out of bed or as you are getting ready for the day. It starts your day off with good vibes.

With all the emotions and crazy facts coming at you right now, it’s super important to surround yourself with positive inspiration daily from role models and mentors. Watch uplifting videos, listen to motivational speakers and feel-good songs, and read inspiring quotes.

2. Stick to a Daily Routine and Non-Negotiable Boundaries for Work and Personal Time

Working at home does not mean showering less, dressing down, sleeping in, or not moving from your computer for 10 hours. Working from home means that you have to be extra vigilant to stick to a consistent routine, show up as you would at work, have a “to-do” list that gets done, and set boundaries so that work and personal life both receive the attention they need.

Set a time in the day when work starts in the morning and is shut down at night….and stick to it. Take regular breaks during the day to stretch, get fresh air, exercise, eat healthily and recharge your mind with a social activity.

Choose one or 2 things that you will promise to do every day. Things that say “this is my time”. You will feel great and be able to shut off work stuff.

3. Limit News Consumption and Negative Influencers to 10 Minutes a Day

It’s important to stay informed about the FACTS of what is happening in your local area, your state or province and your country, as well as internationally, during this quickly changing situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19). Find a way to do in the shortest time possible as well as in the medium (TV, radio, or internet) that is the least upsetting to you.

Living and working at home also means more people around you that may be negative influencers. They may have been in that role already before COVID-19. Now they may be worse or become a negative influence because they are having a tough time dealing with everything and may take it out on you.

Ensure that you find a safe positive space where you can work, uninterrupted, and where you’re energy stays high and not affected by negative influencers, even if they are in the nest room. Your business and sanity depend on it.

4. Stay Healthy by Eating Clean, hydrating, and Exercise 30 Minutes a Day

Eat clean by avoiding processed food, sugar, caffeine (WHAT?), and alcohol while getting enough healthy protein, greens and fruit, and nuts. With a more sedentary lifestyle and the kitchen soooooI close and convenient to make popcorn or get that Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, weight gain can happen fast.

Drink Water and a lot of it!….and not water disguised as pop or 10 cups of coffee. 🙂

Move your body daily. Do what is fun for you. Go for a walk, do yoga, or find a Zoomba workout online. All it takes is 30 minutes of cardio and stretching. You can do this.

5. Give it Your All to Make Your Dream Vision a Reality Despite All Odds

You only have today. So make it count. You might as well give it your all and take actions that will make your dream a reality even if the future is uncertain.

The future is always uncertain. It’s just a bit more uncertain in the current times we live in. But that did not stop people throughout history from thriving by showing up daily as their best selves. You can too. I know you’ve got the courage.

Your dream can not be halted or squashed by outer circumstances, only the actions that you need to make it a reality have changed. Find out what it takes and make your dream a reality.

Why we love working at home (online)

My daughter, Jen, and I, have been online entrepreneurs, working at home, and anywhere else in the world with the internet, for over 10 years now. We have built up online businesses and combined have made over 1.5 million net by working only a few hours a week, using our creativity, and doing what we love.

We license our graphic designs, photography, and artwork to an online shopping platform called Zazzle. It’s a Print on demand company. That means…set up our virtual stores and post products for sale and when a customer buys the product, Zazzle prints it, ships it to the customer, bills the customer, and pays us a royalty.

We have no overhead, no inventory, no marketing budget, you get the idea…. that means we get to keep 85-90% of our earnings. Plus we have the time freedom to post more products or be with our family and do fun things. It’s a fantastic sustainable online business.
