Mindset is key when you’re growing and scaling an online business. When you are used to having a 9-5 mindset you can have a hard time realizing that you are no longer trading your hours for dollars anymore. You are now trading your hours for building a successful business that will hopefully give you more money than that 9-5 job ever could. If you are putting in a lot of hours in the beginning, know that those hours, if used effectively, could make you a lot more money going forward and you will work less later.
When you are a Zazzle designer or any kind of entrepreneur, you are working as your own boss. You are the person to set your schedule and itinerary for the day. So many of us are used to someone telling us what to do during our workday. With this shift, having to come up with your own time management strategies can be brand new territory. There are a lot of differences between being your own boss and working a 9-5. For example, with your 9-5 job you are getting paid on an hourly basis once you’ve clocked in whether you are working efficiently or not. Whereas, when you’re running your own business, you aren’t clocking in and getting paid by the hour. You have to put in the work, and make the hours worked count.
What’s really great about having an online business is being able to align your work-time to meet your needs and your dream life. One of the best things you can do is to align your habits from the very beginning with what you want from your business in order to create new habits. So if your goal is to work less then find out how to strategically get your work done effectively in less time.
1. Eat The Frog. This Brian Tracy technique is game-changing because it emphasizes the importance of doing the most important and oftentimes the most difficult task as soon as you start work. Don’t procrastinate on the difficult task because your motivation level won’t be as high after you’ve worked on other smaller tasks for your business. Make sure you are focusing first on that one thing that is going to help move your business forward.
2. Pomodoro time technique. This is a timer that sets breaks for you while you are working. It’s important to take breaks and step away from your work, by doing this you’ll be much more productive versus working nonstop without breaks in the day. This technique can also serve as motivation. You end up trying to be more efficient because you know you have a limited amount of time before the break to work on your tasks.
Time management strategies can make a huge difference in your online business! Change your 9-5 mindset and understand that you are no longer trading your hours for money You are trading your hours to build a successful business that will give you more money in the long run.
Make sure you align your time spent on your business with what you want for your life. Using time management techniques like ‘Eat The Frog’ and the Pomodoro timer can be small tools that help you massively in the long run. It’s important to understand that time management is crucial to your success, not only for Zazzle designers but for anyone who is an entrepreneur.
