I (Elke) used to work a traditional 9 to 5 job at a pretty successful company. While it was a secure and steady job, I grew more and more frustrated with it over time.
One major issue is that my job took my time away from being with my children. I wanted to have the flexibility to see them when I wanted and create lasting memories with them, but I kept having to sacrifice my time with them for the sake of the job.
I often had to leave my young children with different babysitters, and I was usually late picking them up because my boss would keep me late at the office. And one day, Jen said something that shook me to my core: “Mummy, where am I going now? Are you really going to pick me up?”
I knew then that I had to make a change. I wasn’t sure of the way forward, but I knew that I was at my breaking point and just couldn’t continue the way things were. I’ve been so grateful to start my online business and make it work for me. It’s given me the time freedom to spend the key moments with my family that I wanted while making even more money while working less hours.
I (Jen) studied business as an undergraduate. I thought business would be a good fit for me since it could combine both my creative and analytical skills. However, I didn’t find my coursework to be very fulfilling. I didn’t get to express my creativity in my classes.
As I thought more about what I wanted to do once I graduated, the prospect of working in an office with a big group setting scared and overwhelmed me.
At the same time, Elke was starting her online business on Zazzle and having a lot of success with it. I was inspired by her and started my own Zazzle store. At first, I treated it as a hobby. But when she taught me The 5 Strategies™, I learned to treat it like a real business and got to be more and more successful at it.
I’m so thankful for Zazzle because working online gave me the opportunity to live where I wanted. I got to travel the world and ended up living in Spain for ten years. My Zazzle store supported all my traveling.
It has been incredible to travel the world and live my dream life while supporting myself financially using my Zazzle earnings.
