In this article, we share some of our top tips on how you can overcome imposter syndrome and create success on Zazzle.

overcome imposter

“If you find yourself thinking there’s no more room on Zazzle and it’s too late to get started, that is completely inaccurate.

How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome, Point #1: You may find yourself fearful of competition and feel you are unable to compete with current designers on Zazzle.

The first instance of imposter syndrome that we’ve seen Zazzle designers deal with is not feeling good enough to compete with others. You may be nervous or scared that there are too many people that have created a certain product, therefore you can’t sell something similar, or there’s too many people already selling the same product in the Zazzle marketplace, therefore there’s no place for you. There is definitely a place for you on Zazzle. Each designer brings a unique skill and feel to their products. You can bring your own individuality to the designs you create and sell in the Zazzle marketplace, and your products will stand out. There is so much money available that flows through e-commerce. Many people may be looking exactly for what you have to offer. You just have to believe that and believe in yourself.

If you are scared or nervous that nobody will want to buy your products, remember that there are so many people in the world buying online and who like the same things that you like. If you market your products and create designs specific for these potential buyers, you will have people who want to purchase. Once those people find you, they’ll be so excited to purchase your products. That’s the key! Find those customers who will resonate with what you offer. Then making the sale will be easy.

The other thing worth pointing out is that there is no competition in a sense. If you don’t believe it’s possible for you, it won’t happen. Students of ours who just start in our Profit By Design Academy™ have made sales within the first month or even week of starting our course. How do they make those sales if there’s so much competition?

It’s more so a matter of presenting yourself and your designs in a way that allows you to promote your product to your target audience that identifies with your style. The competition is out there but it’s not yours. You are delivering things only you can deliver.

How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome, Point #2: You feel that what you have to offer may not be good enough for people to want to purchase.

If your mindset is focused on whether or not you are actually good enough to create and sell your designs, you won’t make sales. Yes, the products on the homepage are what Zazzle is promoting. The bestsellers obviously sell, but you don’t have to offer those specific products or designs in those niches in order to make sales. If you are on the Zazzle marketplace and you see very specific trending designs and it’s not your thing, that doesn’t mean your designs aren’t good enough to sell. This just means your designs aren’t on the homepage. So many things go on in the back end and purchases are being made that you don’t know about. On the Zazzle homepage, there’s only room for about 40 to 50 products to be displayed. Keep in mind there are hundreds of thousands of products being sold on Zazzle all the time.

Jen sells designs she made many years ago that she didn’t think were attractive or appealing, but those products still sell. When Jen first started out, some of her designs weren’t up to the standards she has now, but that doesn’t mean people won’t purchase or like these older designs. Take a step back and understand, there are so many possibilities for customers to buy your products. There are so many niches and specific buyers out there, and if you offer what they’re looking for, that’s where the magic and sales happen.

For example, we have a lot of students in very specific niches such as crocheting, knitting, martial arts, things you would never see on the Zazzle homepage. However, they still get sales and do well because they deliver what their target market wants. Take away the incorrect assumption that you aren’t good enough and you can overcome this limiting belief associated with imposter syndrome.

How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome, Point #3: You believe that you are too late to the Zazzle platform and won’t find success.

Build you brand with Jen and Elke Clarke

If you find yourself thinking there’s no more room on Zazzle and it’s too late to get started, that is completely inaccurate. We are both still active designers on Zazzle and make lots of money each month. There are Zazzle designers who just started out recently and are experiencing success. People starting now are just as successful, if not more successful than when we both started.

When we started, there were fewer products to sell, the platform was not as user friendly, and e-commerce wasn’t as popular. At this time online sales are booming. If anything, now is the best time in the history of Zazzle to become a Zazzle designer, you have the most opportunities and best possibility to achieve success.

How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome, Point #4: You believe it’s not possible to make the money you want to make on Zazzle.

This expression of imposter syndrome is a money mindset block. You have to make a shift in how you perceive your possibility of making the amount of money that you want on Zazzle. First of all, Zazzle is a very well known international company that does a lot of external marketing. If Zazzle doesn’t sell, they don’t make money. Zazzle wants you to succeed so they will also succeed. If you don’t sell, you don’t make money, but Zazzle also doesn’t make money. Zazzle is working hard to make sure as many customers as possible come onto Zazzle to shop and that their website is user friendly so that they will buy. If you provide a customer with a type of product or service that they want to buy, you personally bring something unique to your business on Zazzle. Focus on creating that uniqueness and serving your customer. This is what will bring in sales.

The potential is there to make the money you want on Zazzle. What you need to do is set up your Zazzle store properly and get analytical about what is happening in your store. Leverage sales that come in so that you can continue to expand and results will multiply. One of our students took about 3 months to make his first $1,000. Within another 3 months he made $5,000. This is a prime example of how your Zazzle store can grow exponentially. You just have to have things in place. We also want to remind you that Zazzle is not a get rich quick scheme. However, once you have that product inventory implemented and you build it up, things start to happen for you.

Jen and I have been paid out over 1.5 million dollars combined from Zazzle. If we would have feared that it was not possible, we would not have taken a chance on the platform. The way it becomes possible is for you to understand that products that sell year after year begin to generate more and more money for you while you don’t do any more work. Some of our designs that we made many years ago still sell today. It is possible to make sales passively long-term on Zazzle. When we created these products 10 to 13 years ago, we never imagined it was possible, but it is! Your Zazzle business is a money making option that can continue to grow over many years with unlimited sales opportunities. Through the examples of others who achieve their earnings goals on Zazzle, you can begin to dispel your fear that it’s not possible to make significant money on Zazzle.

How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome and Create Success on Zazzle: The Key Takeaways

time management strategies

It’s important to ask yourself “What is true?” Are your imposter syndrome feelings real or based on a limited perspective? Would your imposter syndrome be less “real” if you had other information to help you get a broader perspective of Zazzle and what others have accomplished? Would you be able to get closer to achieving your goals on Zazzle if these fears were not holding you back?

We hope this blog post has inspired you to shift your mindset and allow a new perspective. Sometimes we just need to open our minds up to new knowledge and to diminish imposter syndrome. Now, it’s a matter of you determining what you truly want and if you want to allow imposter syndrome to hold you back, or will you move forward to create success on Zazzle.

Thank you so much for reading! We hope this blog post has given you actionable steps to start and scale your Zazzle business so that your passive online income can give you the location and time freedom to live your dream life.
