How to Master Pinterest: Be sure you’re doing the following things:
Once you publish your product, make it a habit to pin to a Pinterest board right away. Remember it as Jen and Elke’s Post and Pin Strategy™. This takes the stress out of remembering to pin a specific product later. Do this and your first line of promotion is already done.
In addition to pinning right from Zazzle, use the training in this podcast to learn how to do manual pins and pin your top sellers manually to Pinterest. Use Canva or screenshots from your Zazzle product to pin the image.
To achieve more engagement with your Pinterest followers, make your boards educational (inform them on the board topic and what you deliver), inspirational (give them ideas on how to use your products) and useful (provide them with your products for sale).
That means you must add in other pins that help educate people, inspire them and THEN inform them of their purchasing options, which would be ONLY your Zazzle products.
You can have multiple accounts. There is no limit on the boards, but now there is a limit on how many times you can pin the same URL. If you want to pin the same URL (ie. product) more than once then you must wait 2 – 3 weeks. After 2- 3 weeks you can pin the same URL but it is advised to pin it with a different image (product view or as a manual pin).
There is no longer a need to pin only at certain times. Yes, there is still an advantage to have your pins found in the “NEW PIN FEED”. But, Pinterest is being used more and more as a search engine, instead of a real-time new pin feed.
Pinterest has divided the homepage of your account into 2 sections:
The SAVED tab shows the pins that were added to Pinterest from Zazzle using the red Pinterest button option on the product page.
When you follow Jen and Elke’s Post and Pin Strategy™, you’ll boost your searchability, engagement and, ultimately, sales!
Mastering Pinterest for Zazzle, avoid doing the following things:
People on Pinterest rarely look at your boards’ index to see all your boards. The majority of people only look at pins in feeds. There is no need to have a “pretty” board cover.
Instead, re-pin your product fresh from Zazzle again.
This is simply bad etiquette. Would you like it if that happened to your pins when people re-pinned them? No.
It’s a waste of time.
Pinterest only uses the hashtags for sorts to present pins to the viewer for a short time after the pin is initially pinned. This means there is NO benefit for you to add #’s to your older pins.
Pinterest doesn’t see them.
You want users to be able to search for and find your boards easily. Use keywords in the Board titles that are relevant to the subject matter of the pins you have in that board. Also, use these same keywords in the Board’s description.
Pinterest Group Boards are beginning to be “devalued” so spend less time on them. Don’t waste your time on other people’s group boards either.
Pins in Pinterest board sections are not searchable. Since you are using Pinterest to promote because pins are searchable, the sections are a waste of your time and effort for your Zazzle business.
10- Don’t miss out on visibility – Do add text to your pins.
When creating your other images to pin the same Zazzle URL, add text to your images to add interest and help educate your customer. Use The Zazzle Create Tool or Canva. Both make it easy for you to add text over top of your image. Use keywords in your text that are relevant to your Zazzle product. Pinterest has the technology to visually read the text on pinned images and use it for sort results. Cool right?
You can still intermingle the business and personal subject matters together effectively if it relates to your Zazzle business and Zazzle products. Otherwise, personal pins should be in your personal account.
Open up a separate Pinterest Business Account for EACH of your Zazzle stores so that your marketing and branding can be consistent with your Zazzle store brand. You can open as many Pinterest Business Accounts as you want and they are FREE.
For a business account, there is no limit on the number of pins you can pin. Follow the rules on how many pins of the same URL and product image.
Avoid these mistakes to increase your visibility and interaction with users on Pinterest!
Pinterest is truly unlike any other social media platform. You have a huge advantage on it as a designer because people are already looking to shop and can search for what they want. But it’s important to keep up with the changes so you are using it correctly. I hope this episode takes the guesswork out of what you do and don’t need to do to master Pinterest!
