In this post, I (Elke) offer a wealth of tips about being an international seller and International Zazzle Designer on the Zazzle platform. Many people wonder, “can you make money on Zazzle?” and the answer is yes, especially if you leverage the platform effectively.
While nearly 80% of Zazzle sellers are from the US, there are many that reside in other countries. With that being said, targeting US-based customers can greatly expand your opportunities for sales and profits.
But before we dive right in, let us introduce ourselves in case this is your first visit. Welcome to The Creative and Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast. We’re your hosts, Jen and Elke Clarke. We are a mother and daughter team that started Zazzle e-commerce businesses over 10 years ago and have sold over 15 million dollars worth and counting of products on Zazzle.
The Creative and Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast is for you, the creative. We share actionable steps that you can take to make money in your e-commerce business. In each episode, we will take you one step closer to achieving freedom with your time, location, and finances. Many ask, “can you make money on Zazzle?” Through our journey, we’ve proven that success is indeed possible with the right approach.
We believe that a profitable e-commerce business is what opens the doors for you to start living your dream life if you work smarter, not harder, use the right tools and follow the proven roadmap. We’re here to give you the tools you need to make your dream life happen. Let’s get started!
The great thing is that sellers from other countries can find much success selling on the Zazzle platform. Read on as I share our best tips on how to get started doing that if you live abroad.
There are just a couple key criteria points for those interested in selling on Zazzle living outside of the US:
– You must be over 13 years old
– You have to have access to Zazzle from the country you live in
It’s as simple as that!
Another commonly asked question is where international seller and international Zazzle Designer should post their products on Zazzle. There’s some confusion in this because many people assume that if they live outside of the US, they can’t post their products on Zazzle.com and have to post them to their own countries’ version of the site.
However, this is completely false! It’s a myth that you can’t post designs on the US site and sell there. In fact, you can post your products to any other country’s Zazzle site. Pretty cool, right? You are not limited to selling based on where you live. That’s one of the many amazing things about the platform.
Since many buyers are US-based, it’s a great business move to ensure your designs are posted to that version of Zazzle to increase your chance of sales. Another great thing to know is that Zazzle will automatically translate the description and tags of your items from your native language to the language of the site you’re posting your product on.
With that being said, don’t limit yourself to one country on Zazzle. Post your products widely to make more sales!
Another important question is how international Zazzle designer can get paid and what they need to make that happen. All income is taxable and it’s important to ensure you’re in compliance with all tax laws for every sale you make. This should be discussed with an accountant. You should also discuss the best way to structure your company with an accountant to ensure you’re setting things up correctly and efficiently for tax purposes. For individuals curious about “can you make money on Zazzle,” these financial considerations are essential to grasp as part of your business planning and operations.
Zazzle must abide by the rules of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which means their sellers are subject to those rules as well. Some countries have what’s called a tax treaty in place with the US. This basically means that, if your country has one of these treaties in place, you’d be able to pay taxes to your own country instead of to the US. This is another thing to check on with your accountant.
If your country doesn’t have a tax treaty in place, you can have tax withheld from your Zazzle payouts to account for what you owe. You will have to fill out Zazzle’s payment form and for any questions you have about payment and taxes, contact Zazzle directly to get useful answers.
Finally, international sellers and Zazzle Designers will need to learn how to design and sell to the US market since this market accounts for most of the shoppers on the platform. To do this, make sure that you’re spelling all words correctly on your product descriptions and tags. Many word spellings change from one country to the next, so be careful about this. This attention to detail is crucial for those wondering, “can you make money on Zazzle?” as it directly impacts your ability to connect with and sell to your target market.
You’ll also want to learn the customs of different countries. For example, if you want to break into the US wedding market, you’ll need to have a grasp on the wedding customs, trends, sayings, and styles that apply to the US.
To successfully sell to the US market, do your research to find out what the audience really wants.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for international Designer to post their products to different audiences across the globe. This especially benefits those who live in a place with inflation issues or somewhere where it’s difficult to find a steady job.
I hoped this information helped you understand how selling on Zazzle can be a great way to open a new income stream on an international level. By engaging in other target markets around the world, you can open up so many possibilities for you and your business.
