How KDP Amazon No Content Book Sellers Can Make Money on Zazzle
I’m (Elke) so excited about today’s post, as it’s a really important one. Today, I’m discussing if you’re a Kindle Direct Publishing KDP Amazon publisher, and if you are, I’m going to share an opportunity for you to make money on the Zazzle platform rather than just focusing on the Amazon platform.
But before we dive right in, let us introduce ourselves in case this is your first visit. Welcome to The Creative and Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast. We’re your hosts, Jen and Elke Clarke. We are a mother and daughter team that started a Zazzle e-commerce business over 10 years ago and have sold over 15 million dollars worth, and counting, of products on Zazzle.
The Creative and Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast is for you, the creative (or non-creative in this case). We share actionable steps that you can take to make money in your e-commerce business. In each episode, we will take you one step closer to achieving freedom with your time, location, and finances.
We believe that a profitable e-commerce business is what opens the doors for you to start living your dream life if you work smarter, not harder, use the right tools and follow the proven roadmap. We’re here to give you the tools you need to make your dream life happen. Let’s get started!
The customization feature that Zazzle allows for really sets it apart from other print on demand (POD) platforms, and it also their focus on sustainability makes it a leader in the industry. Keep in mind as you read this, Zazzle is not a get-rich-quick scheme. However, if you put the time and effort into the platform, you can tap into an amazing business opportunity.
What is KDP Amazon Publishing?
If you’re looking to get ahead in the Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) Amazon Publishing space, Zazzle could be the perfect platform for you! KDP publishing is using the Amazon platform to create books. The trick here is that you create a file with a book, but you’re essentially creating an empty content journal. There will be a cover but the inside pages will be blank.
This has become a big business for many individuals and it allows these sellers to market their item as a book since they’re using the self-publishing platform. These are considered low or no content books. But in the past year or so, I’ve noticed that there is a lot more involved with this to get sales on the Amazon platform because of the rise in popularity of this practice.
One of the issues with this is that Amazon has started to reject some of these books due to the fact that they’re more like journals. This can be a big struggle for sellers of these items. Thankfully, I have a feasible solution.
You can take what you’ve done on Amazon and leverage it on Zazzle to create a lucrative business. Zazzle is a great spot for this because it has customization features available to you and customers alike. Additionally, there are fewer restrictions than Amazon, and they have so many more products that you can put your designs on.

The Opportunity to Make Sales on Zazzle
Instead of having issues with no sales, restrictions on designs, rejections of designs, or account termination, Zazzle can provide you with MORE sales. That’s what everyone’s after, right?
Journals are currently a hot seller on Zazzle. It’s very easy to upload your cover design, all uploads are accepted, and your account will not be at risk of being closed (unless you’re violating a copyright). Products can be published for sale now on Zazzle and continue to sell for years on the marketplace, which is another plus.
The only limit you have on the Zazzle marketplace is that you cannot have more than 100k products on a single account.
To create a journal on Zazzle, you will take the cover and back cover designs and use the Zazzle uploader tool to add them. You don’t need to “create” an entire book as you do on Amazon for this. The platform has over 10 types of insides for journals, which allows you to make 10 different products for your storefront with one single design. This increases your ability to sell.
Zazzle has 45k other products, which is another great point about the platform. This allows you to add your design to other items that can sell, generating further income for you.
A Huge “A-ha!” Moment: The Bottom Line
It’s really important to me to find a way to get the most out of my time and the maximum profitability. Although the cash grab factor on KDP Amazon Publishing is high, it’s not a sustainable business model to generate passive income over the long term.
There is an abundance of opportunities for KDP Amazon Publishers on the Zazzle platform, and I hope that this episode opens your eyes to that so you can seize that and tap into a more sustainable and abundant business model.
