In this post, I (Elke) am going to share my top three Zazzle Selling tips for things you MUST do before you begin your selling journey on Zazzle. For my daughter Jen and I, it took 14 years for us to make $1.5 million from the platform.
Through our selling experience, Jen and I have learned so much about what truly drives sales on Zazzle and how to profit on the platform.
Zazzle can be viewed as “a business in a box” that is very seller-oriented. For that reason, many people have the mentality that they can just hop on and sell on a whim, allowing them a big piece of the profit pie. However, without taking the right steps and understanding what you need to succeed, there will be a lot of frustration and disappointment.
To help you avoid that, in this episode, I’m diving into 3 key Zazzle Selling tips that will help you on your Zazzle journey to success.
There’s so much to know about Zazzle, and it’s important to do your research before you begin selling on the platform. Here are some important Zazzle selling tips you need to know about Zazzle to understand and make decisions about how to set up your Zazzle store:
– $1.8 billion of products were sold online last year – this offers a great business opportunity for you to start selling online
– 48% of Zazzle consumers last year were females – this provides you with insight into your target shopper
– There are 16 million views per month on the Zazzle site – while this is not as high of a number as sites like Amazon, those that visit Zazzle are more targeted and dedicated shoppers
– The average time spent on Zazzle is three seconds – this is a very short amount of time, which means you have to make your product thumbnail very visible, clear, and desirable
– The typical Zazzle shopper looks at 3.5 pages when they visit the site – this provides a lot of opportunities to catch the shopper’s attention and allows you to understand the buying journey
– 82% of Zazzle customers are from the U.S. – this is another important fact to help you understand your target audience
This research gives you a great starting point as you research Zazzle and begin understanding your target audience and how they interact with the platform.
My next Zazzle selling tip is to decide on your brand before you begin selling. You want to set up your brand in a way that allows for expansion once you develop your abilities on the Zazzle marketplace.
That means that you don’t want to box yourself into one product. Instead, target a broad audience to get the volume of sales that you want. It’s helpful to be open to suggestions as to what you should offer in the Zazzle marketplace, as you may encounter some ideas you have not considered yet.
When deciding on your brand, you’ll also want to choose a name that is generic but helpful, as well as one that does not infringe on someone else’s copyright. Even if your branding is somewhat generic to allow for expansion, it should still be memorable to and resonate with your customers.
Zazzle has many opportunities that you can tap into so keep that in mind as you design your brand. Be broad to account for possible future expansion of your business. This ensures you won’t waste time going back to rebrand down the road.
Finally, you will need to know who you’re going to serve from a customer standpoint. On the Zazzle platform, you won’t have direct interaction with your customers. This is because Zazzle (conveniently) takes care of everything in terms of fulfillment, customer service, and billing.
But even with that being true, you still need to know your ideal customer and how to best serve them. If you don’t do that, you won’t make sales, which defeats your reason for being on this platform in the first place!
Knowing your customer circles back to Zazzle selling tip number one, as you need to do your research in order to define your customer correctly. Understand who they are. What is their age range? What type of products are they looking for on Zazzle? How can you fulfill their needs?
Your approach to serving customers should be in making their lives easier and happier with their purchases. So, immerse yourself in their world. Ask yourself, what do they need? What are they coming to Zazzle looking for? What concepts, colors, and designs do they want to see?
Understanding who you’re selling to will empower you to create products that they’ll want to buy, which will undoubtedly convert to sales.
It’s easy to assume that selling on Zazzle is a piece of cake and that it can be a quick way to make extra income. However, failing to put in the work prior to opening your Zazzle store can result in frustration and disappointment.
Use these Zazzle Selling tips to equip yourself to successfully sell on Zazzle. This framework can lead you toward business success and the ability to continuously grow your brand and sales on Zazzle, just as so many of our clients have done.
