Goal Setting To Make More Money on Zazzle

2019 Goal Setting To Make More Money on Zazzle Article by Elke Clarke Top Seller on Zazzle

This article is Part 2 in a 5 part series of articles on goal setting and planning for success on Zazzle. Part 1 was published in December 2018 and is summarized in this article as well. Part 2 is all about effective Goal Setting and expanding on what you started in Part 1. Effective short-term goal setting involves assessing what worked in the past and clearly defining your future long-term goals.

The best time to start your New year’s goal setting is in December when you still have the events of the previous year fresh in your mind. Now you can complete the process in the month of January. The holidays gave you the time off to rest. Now you are ready to get started on the new year with a healthy reflection of 2018’s events, a new heightened determination to succeed and renewed energy to get the job done. This will allow you to achieve more and believe you can do more compared to if you had done Part 2 back in December 2018.

Part 1 Revisited: Set your Zazzle habit goals for New Year

If you have not yet done Part 1 as outlined in my previous article, which I posted in December 2018, then I advise you to read the article for reference. However, use the new worksheet in this article instead of the one provided in Part 1. It will not be necessary to do both at this point.

In December, I asked you to set your earnings goal. By doing so you defined a ballpark target goal that you can work towards. It was important that you picked a number for this in December. The purpose was for you to put a number down and let it settle in your mind while you were on holiday.

Now in January, I am going ask you to look at what you wrote in the previous year and reassess, based on a few more parameters that I will discuss below. You will be more clear on what your Zazzle earnings goal should be once you complete the tasks outlined here in this article.

By the time you complete these tasks, you will have established your Zazzle earnings goal and work habits in place to give you the best chance of succeeding. In parts 3, 4, and 5 I will teach you about the planning and implementation to reach your set New Year Zazzle earnings goal.

In the worksheet from Part 1, which I asked you to complete in December 2018, you were guesstimating. Now I want you to look at what you wrote and revise these answers after you have finished reading this article.

These new numbers you place on this Part 2 worksheet will be your final earnings and habit goals. You will add them to this new worksheet after you read and use the rest of the information in this article to firm up your New Year Zazzle goals.

Set your long-term goals

It is important to set both long-term and short-term goals for both your Zazzle business and your personal future.

Set a long-term goal for 5 years time. Aim for lofty dream goals financially and in the other areas of your life such as family, spiritual, fitness, relationships, and self-improvement. Dream and state your heart’s desires but also make sure that your long-term goals are still reasonable. I want you to believe that you can actually achieve your goals even if they seem impossible to you right now.

Your Zazzle earnings will directly influence whether your personal long-term goals work out.

Your long-term goals may include:

  • early retirement
  • traveling
  • time freedom to look after loved ones like children or elderly loved ones
  • quitting a job you hate

Define Your “Why”

You are setting goals in these other areas to provide you with the motivation to achieve your Zazzle earnings goal. These will help define your ”why”. Your “why” motivate you to create massive change in your current life to achieve your long-term Zazzle earnings goal that will make your personal goals a reality.

Money is the means to achieving your personal goals that make your life meaningful. Money alone is not a goal that will make you happy or be enough to keep you striving to succeed. Many people make that mistake and are not happy once they have achieved their money goal.

My long-term goals

I always had 1 million dollars set as my long-term Zazzle earnings goal. This number kept me motivated but it’s what I was going to use the money for that kept me focused and determined to overcome any obstacles. I had strong “why” dream goals of staying home with my family and paying for my children’s schooling. I accomplished this despite the fact that my goals seemed out of reach when I set them for myself.

My next long-term Zazzle earnings goal is to earn my next million so that I can pay for my retirement and travel around the world. It is possible to achieve your goal if you believe and are motivated to take action to achieve it.

Answer the questions about your long-term goals on the worksheet now.

Analyze your overall Previous Year’s Zazzle Success

To be able to achieve your New Year Zazzle earnings goal you must know what worked and what failed.

List 2 or 3 actions you took that made a positive impact on your Zazzle sales.

Then list 2 or 3 actions you did not do or did that were bad decisions because they did not achieve your desired goal.

Finally, review honestly your Zazzle habits. How much time did you spend working effectively on your Zazzle store? What was the average number of products you posted per month? How many times did you promote on average per month?

Add your information and findings to the worksheet.

Review your 2018 Zazzle wins and fails

When you review your wins and fails as well as your overall habits, is there a connection with your actual 2018 Zazzle income? There should be. You will realize that you are either doing things right or wrong or in some cases not doing things at all even though you know you should be.

Once you have identified these actions (or inactions) you can make decisions. You can either keep doing what you are doing that works or stop doing what failed. Or start doing what you were supposed to do that you know would increase your Zazzle income.

Add your findings to the worksheet. You may want to check out the tool described below as a way to help you with your analysis.

How to analyze your Previous Year’s Zazzle sales to plan for Next Year

Analyze your Zazzle earnings reports. Download the CSV files and add them to a spreadsheet so that you can find out your total earnings for the previous year.

I use a great tool that one of my members in The 5 Step Profit Plan VIP Mentoring Program™, Danielle Fernandez, designed. It’s called the Zazzle Designer Earnings Analytics Tool.

To use the tool you still need to use Microsoft Excel™ software (it does not work without it). However, the tool organizes all the data for you into easy-to-analyze graphs, tables, and sorts so that you can use your earnings data to plan for next year. For Part 2, you can use the tool to find out your total earnings in 2018. The tool will become even more useful once we get into Parts 3, 4, and 5 of the goal-setting and planning series.

You can check it out by clicking this link or the image below to be taken to the Zazzle Designer Earnings Analytics Tool information page. Danielle is giving you a SPECIAL FREE ONE-WEEK TRIAL!!!

Celebrate and gain perspective

Before diving into more goal setting and planning, take some time right now to celebrate your wins and acknowledge your losses as opportunities to learn and grow from them. This will help you put things in a good perspective so that you can make good decisions for your next year without any negative bias. Acknowledge your hard work and resulting achievements.

Remove all toxicity

Put negative events in the past and leave them there. Recognize them. Take ownership of them if you are responsible but then look at them as a lesson learned. Search for any benefits that may have come from your negative experience. Assess if there are any opportunities that can come out of these events. Did you learn a new skill? Have you experienced something new? Did you become wiser?

Once you have spent some time reviewing and assessing the negatives from 2018, you can consider them fully in the past. Forget them.

Remember only the good from 2018.

Define your short-term goals for Next Year

Now work backward in time from 5 years and break your goals down into what you need to accomplish in the next year to reach your long-term goal. This will lead to your new year Zazzle earnings goal and define your short-term earnings goal.

If your goal is to earn 500K in the next 5 years, then you can divide by 5 and could put 100K down as your new year goal. However, I would account for exponential growth in your Zazzle store. That means in your first year you may only need to aim for 50K. Then next year your goal would be 100K and 150K the year after that, and so on.

Once you start to sell, your monthly income could rise exponentially*. Instead of just increasing a little at a time, some of my program members have had their earnings double month after month this can create a snowball effect and result in exponential growth. So your short-term earnings goal for 2018 can actually be less than 100K in your first year because you will make more year after year if you continue to grow your Zazzle business*.

Add all this information to the worksheet.

Habit goals explained

The habit goals I asked you to complete in December ensure that you are physically doing the tasks required to achieve your 1Zazzle earnings goal. They provide action steps that turn your hopeful earnings wish into an achievable goal. There is more to achieving success, obviously, but by committing the time and specific basic action steps required to make money on Zazzle, you are ensuring that you are on the right track and then you can add the other elements required. I will talk about these in Parts 3, 4, and 5.

Commit to time working on Zazzle

The number of hours you choose to work on Zazzle will depend on what your earnings goal is and if you have a proven plan to follow. If you are following my 5-Step Profit Plan Program™ then you can set 20 hours a week as your time commitment. If you have to work everything out for yourself to grow your Zazzle business, then it will take much longer. You will want to add more time (maybe double or more) to allow for time wasted learning from scratch.

Make Zazzle appointments with yourself

Setting the days of the week and the time of each day that you will work on Zazzle is important. You can carve out these times out of your daily schedule as your Zazzle time. Add the times to your calendar like you would a doctor’s appointment. Honor yourself by keeping these appointments with yourself, do not allow distractions, and be productive.

Your Zazzle Production Schedule

Be your own taskmaster. Make sure you post products for sale every week. If you fall behind on your quota then make up for them right away in the next week. You will aim for 100 a month if you are a member of The 5 Step Profit Plan Program™. If you are not in the program, you will probably have to make more products a month because you will not be using the program tools to identify the “most likely to sell” products, designs, and niches.

Your Zazzle Promotion Schedule

Promotion numbers will also depend on whether you are in The 5 Step Profit Plan Program™ or not. However, if you commit to promoting a minimum of 10 products a week then you will be routinely spreading the word about your amazing Zazzle products.

Congratulations you set your goals

Well done! You have set your Zazzle earnings goal and habit goals plus your 5-year long-term goals. You have booked times in your calendar, pasted the worksheet with your goals somewhere where you will always see them and now you are excited and ready to get to work.

But now you are probably wondering, what you need to do in that time booked off got do Zazzle work. What actions will allow you to achieve your Zazzle earnings goal? Stay tuned for next week’s article where I dive into goal planning.
