Have you ever used the rule of three to sell more while designing your Zazzle products? Are you posting designs for sale but they just don’t seem to look pleasing to the eye? You need to use key basic design elements while creating products. This will increase your chances of selling and being successful on Zazzle. In this article and video I and my mother, Elke Clarke will teach you how to create beautiful designs using the rule of three.
Use The Rule of Three to Sell More on Zazzle
When designing products on Zazzle, you must use the rule of three in order to create a professional-looking product that will sell. Customers are drawn to designs that are pleasing to the eye and that flow properly. If you create a design that does not use the rule of three it can be overwhelming to the customer. It most likely will be dis-proportioned and this will affect your sales.
What Is The Rule of Three When Designing on Zazzle?
The rule of three when creating graphic designs is the general rule that your design contains three main elements that balance each other out to create a pleasing outcome. This is different than the rule of three that we have previously mentioned in an article for photography. If you would like to read this article, please click here.
You need to have three well-balanced focal points in your designs in order to properly use the rule of three. Each element needs to be prominent but properly proportioned in accordance with the other elements in your design. You must use three main ones. If you start to have too many focal points or elements in your design, it can be overwhelming. If you do want to have more elements, make sure that they are an odd numbers. Three, five, and seven etc. Odd numbers are pleasing to the eye and will help balance out your design.
Examples of Using the Rule of Three on Zazzle Products
As you can see from the examples above, each product has three main elements to the design. You want to make sure that you abide by these rules in order to make a professional and clean-looking design. If you are unsure if your design has three balanced parts to it, view the product in the ‘thumbnail’ display (as it would be seen in the Zazzle marketplace in a search). You will clearly see that you have the three elements in your design. If it looks pleasing to the eye in the smaller preview, you are good to go!

Hi, Jennifer Clarke, I really like your article “Use The Rule of Three To Sell More on Zazzle” it is very educative, even for a want to start my Zazzle store like me.
I want you to do me a favour by visiting on of my facebook page which I’ve given as my website to see and pass your constructive comments on those photos you’ll see on ‘photos’ albums.
Are those photos fit for sale on Zazzle products if I should use a better camera for re-shooting them?
Those photos are photos of my handcrafted works which I handcut with a handheld scroll saw, I handconstructed their patterns by hand also.
Does my designs fall in line with the article ” Use The Rule of Three To Sell More on Zazzle”?
I’ll like stop here, waiting for your comments very soon.
H ave a beautiful day.
Hi Moses. Your carvings are beautiful. The photo quality must be improved if possible because they are grainy and the lighting is not the best. You don’t have to follow the rule of 3 in your case. You want each photo to be centered on the carving with enough area around the edges so that you can add them to products that have what I call waste around the edges. You can always crop them in the design tool later.
