Consider the Location of Your Customer to Sell Well on Zazzle by Jen Clarke, Top Zazzle Earner

Have you ever realized the importance of considering the location of your customer in order to sell well on Zazzle? Designing on Zazzle is fun and easy, but you need to strategically plan and make business decisions based on your customer’s location. Depending on where your customer is located, you will make certain design and product choices. By implementing this strategy, you will optimize your Zazzle store for success. In this article and video, I will explain the importance of considering your customer’s location and what action steps you need to take in order to sell well on Zazzle.

Consider the Location of Your Customer to Sell Well on Zazzle

As a designer on Zazzle, you know that in order to be successful, you need to make certain business decisions. Your products need to be made strategically. You cannot sell well on Zazzle by making random products without thought. Your products need to be made with the consideration of your specific niche and your customer. Above all, the location of your customer is the most important. You want to make products that sell well based on your customer’s needs, culture, and preferences. If you design products that do not consider these factors, you will not sell well on Zazzle. You need to make the right product type, with the right design trends, and use the right language. If you do not, your sales will not increase.

Who Is Your Perfect Customer?

In order to create products that will sell, you need to first know who your perfect customer is. To find this out, you need to have a clearly defined niche and style. You need a specific niche in order to stand out as a designer on Zazzle and compete in the marketplace. Once you have figured out your niche, you are able to understand who your customer is. For example, if you are designing baby shower invitations on the US Zazzle website, you are most likely going to be selling to North American expecting mothers. Now that you know where your customer is located, you will make strategic business decisions in order to sell more on Zazzle.

Need Help Finding Your Perfect Niche?

You might not know exactly what your perfect niche is. If you would like help figuring this out, read the article I wrote last week titled Find Your Unique Niche to Sell More on Zazzle.

In the article, you will find a free cheat sheet for you to download that will guide you toward finding your perfect niche and help you understand your customer better.

Making the Right Type of Products Based on Your Customer’s Location

As mentioned in the video below, you need to make the right type of products based on your customer’s location. Your customer might have different trends or cultural norms that others do not. For example, it is a popular trend in North America to send a flat 4.25″x 5.5″ card as a holiday greeting. However, customers in Europe and the UK would less likely to purchase this. They are more accustomed to a folded 4″ x 5.6″ greeting card. This is why it is so important to consider the customs that your specific customer is used to. If you do not, you are risking your sales on Zazzle.

Using the Right Styles and Trends Based on Your Customer’s Location

It might seem obvious, but you need to make products that follow the trends and styles that are popular that your customer follows. These change based on their location. Something that is trending in North America might not be popular in Europe or the UK. You need to make sure that you keep up with the trends and what is popular with your customer.

This can include but is not limited to:

1. Product styles

2. Sayings/ phrases

3. Colors/fonts

4. Art mediums

5. Viral videos/ celebrities

Design For The Holidays Your Customer Celebrates

Your customer’s location also affects the products you make that revolve around celebrations. For example, if your customer lives in Canada, you might want to make Canada Day-related products. You would not make these products if your customer is located in Australia. Zazzle wrote a great article on their blog, providing a list of the typical North American celebrations and the dates on when you should start making those products. You can read it here. If your customer is located in a different country or follows a certain religion or culture, you need to know the dates of their special celebrations. These celebrations are very important such as Hanukkah or the Day of the Dead. By designing products for these celebrations, you optimize your chances of selling on Zazzle.

Use the Right Language Based on Your Customer’s Location

Your customer’s location does not only affect the type and style of product you make, but also the language or sayings that you use. If your customer is located in Germany, you want to make sure that you are designing in German and using the right spelling. You will lose sales if your spelling is incorrect or if the words you are using are offensive in that language. You need to be very careful when writing in a different language in order to not offend anyone. If it is your native tongue, then I encourage you to design freely. If you are worried about the correct spelling or sayings to use, Zazzle has written a very helpful article with proper translations to use for popular products. You can read the article here.
