Sell Edible Wedding Favors and Make Money on Zazzle Article by Elke Clarke, Top Zazzle Earner, Zazzle Diamond Prodesigner

Customizable edible wedding favors and treats are a popular trend for wedding receptions. You can make money on Zazzle by selling cake pops, brownies, cookies, drink mixes, and chocolate boxes. Post these edible items for sale in your store with your unique designs on them. The average wedding has about 100 guests.  Ten dozen cake pops at $39.00 US per dozen means the bride pays $390 US and you, as the designer, receive a $39 US royalty payment (with at a 10% royalty). That is a substantial amount to make from one customer sale. You should consider having these product types in your Zazzle store. In this article, I will show you 3 popular item categories you can sell as custom edible treats for wedding receptions, bridal showers, or any other special occasions such as graduations, wedding anniversaries, and milestone birthdays.

Zazzle provides you with the opportunity to sell products from well-known brand names such as Veronica’s Treats (brownies,  shortbread cookies, chocolate covered Oreos™), Modern Bite (sugar cookies), Totally Chocolate (chocolate boxes) and McStevens (instant drink mixes). Take advantage of the licensing agreements Zazzle made with these brands and manufacturers. Sell these products with your designs on them through your Zazzle store and earn any royalty you set. I suggest somewhere in the 10% to 15% range.

If your store does not focus on weddings or special occasions, you can always promote other designers’ edible products and earn 15% as a referral income as an affiliate (or Zazzle associate).

There are also other options for the type of occasions and events these products can be used for. I will go into that in more detail later in the article.

Edible Wedding Favor Product Type #1 – Cake Pops

Personalized cake pops are perfect for a wedding reception as part or all of the wedding cake or the wedding dessert table. Click this link to check out the ways cake pops can be used as wedding favors or as part or all of the wedding cake.

On Zazzle, the cake pops have a flat area where you can add a design, photo, and or text. Then the bride can choose the flavor of the cake and the color of the icing. See the image below for a few of my cake pop design examples from my Zazzle store.

Edible Wedding Favor Product Type #2 – Cookies

Customizable edible print cookies and cookie pops are also popular choices for brides who want unique wedding reception gifts for guests. Brides can personalize the cookies with a photo and the bride and groom’s names. Make sure you have photo template and text template designs to make it easy for customers to add their own photos and text before ordering.

The cookies come in different sizes, shapes, and ingredients. There are small square shortbread cookies, circular sugar cookies, as well as a jumbo shortbread cookie (11.25″w x 8.75″l; Net Weight: 18 oz. or 510g) that comes in a gift box. There are also chocolate-covered Oreos that come with (cookie pop) or without a stick.

Edible Wedding Favor Product Type #3 – Chocolates

Chocolate boxes personalized with a personalized engagement photo or a monogram design or a design theme, such as pink roses in a watercolor design, are several designs I have for sale in my Zazzle store.

The box cover is a full bleed print area for your designs and you can choose the type of chocolate and what is imprinted on the chocolate. For wedding designs, I use the “Thank you” option as you can see from 3 of my designs which I show in the image below.

Sell Chocolate boxes for different Special Occasions and Events

When designing a chocolate box for sale, you can use the drop-down menu to see what type of sayings and special occasions are available in terms of the chocolate imprinting. Use those as a guide for what occasions you want to design for and how they fit into your niche.

Here are just a few ideas: Mother’s Day, Get Well, Birthday, Valentine’s Day, Baby, Graduate, Christmas, Congratulations, Thank You, and more. Depending on if you pick the solid one-piece format or the 45-piece option, you will have different “occasions” options.

Be creative and have fun. Look for unique niches and uses to sell chocolate boxes in your Zazzle store.

Thank you again Elke for sharing this with us.

Just a question please. Do you know if these edible products are from sustainable ingredients? I wouldn’t like to help the unsustainable palm oil industry for example that is cutting down rain forest at a terrible rate.

My designs are based around wildlife and nature watercolor artworks and I would not like to be contributing to anything that may harm wildlife however small.

      Thanks again.

Very interesting. I hadn’t used these for events as much as I should have, but I plan to add them. Thank you for the information.
