Maximize Your Black Friday 2017 and Cyber Monday Sales on Zazzle article by Elke Clarke Top Zazzle Earner

Online shopping in preparation for the holidays has already started. But the most active shopping will be on the US Thanksgiving weekend with Black Friday and Cyber Monday being traditionally known as the busiest time of the year and when customers can find amazing deals online. For you as a Zazzle Designer and promoter, it is an opportunity to increase your royalty and referral earnings dramatically. So let’s dive into some of the things you can do to be prepared.

Dates for the 2017 Mega Online Shopping Event of the Year

It starts on Thursday, November 23rd with Thanksgiving. Then Black Friday 2017 is on November 24th. Cyber Monday is on November 27th.

Black Friday 2017 Online Sales

Adobe Digital Index calculated that shoppers spent $3.34 billion online on Black Friday in 2016. That is an increase of 20% percent over 2015 sales. There was a 16% increase from 2014 to 2015. Every year, the sales figures go up substantially, so 2017 should be no exception, possibly going as high as $4 billion US.

Cyber Monday 2017 Online Sales

Adobe Digital Index reported that $3.45 billion was spent online on Cyber Monday in 2016, which is again a significant increase from the $3.07 billion spent in 2015. The predicted sales for 2017 are also above $4 billion!

Total 2017 Thanksgiving Weekend Predicted Sales

The combined total 2016 US online sales for the Thanksgiving weekend is $8.79 billion. Last year sales were predicted to reach 6 billion. As you can see the actual numbers far exceeded that total. So in 2017, reaching 10 billion in sales is a real possibility.

The volume of sales on Zazzle for Black Friday and Cyber Monday is huge. So I want you to take full advantage of this great selling opportunity.

Zazzle Tip # 1: Timely Product Production

Product Production Rule of Thumb: You should be making products for a particular season at least 2 to 3 months in advance.

That means you should be actively making products right NOW for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.

Zazzle Tip # 2: Timely Promotion

Promotion Rule of Thumb: Begin promoting holiday-themed products 1 month before.

Thanksgiving, holiday decor items, and Christmas cards: You should be working on your promotion campaigns right now and begin actively promoting by at the latest by October 15th.

Holiday gifts: Begin promotion in the first week of November and ramp up the intensity as Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday draw near.

New Year’s items: Begin promotion in the first week of December.

Zazzle Tip # 3: Have the right products for sale

Customers shopping online on Thanksgiving, Black Friday 2017, and Cyber Monday 2017 are looking for holiday-themed items for their homes and celebrations, plus unique personalized items they can give as gifts to family and friends.

Check out the list of items that sell well during this US Thanksgiving weekend:

  1. Holiday Themed Decor Products include ornaments, snow globes, Christmas stockings, tree skirts, fleece blankets, and pillows.
  2. New Year’s Themed Products include party items and new years resolution items. So think of invitations, party hats, favor bags, napkins, paper cups, and banners for party items. For New Year’s resolution items, think fitness items such as motivational t-shirts, tank tops, leggings, gym bags, and water bottles.
  3. Holiday Party Themed Products include napkins, paper plates, cups, edibles such as cookies, recipe binders, aprons, cheese boards, and banners.
  4. Holiday Gift Giving Themed Products include wrapping paper, gift bags, gift tags, and stickers.
  5. Christmas Greeting Products include flat cards, greeting cards, postcards, stickers, stamps, envelopes, and return address labels
  6. Holiday Gift Products include all items Zazzle offers which might make a unique gift for that special person. Make sure you have products customers can personalize with their monograms, names, and photos.

Zazzle Tip # 4: Improve your zRank Score

Is your store 100% complete? Is your profile 100% complete? If you are having trouble getting your store optimized to get the best zRank score you can check out my step by step 7 days Beginners Zazzle course. Students who have completed my course have achieved a zRank score of 4 or higher within the week. This is the optimal score Zazzle wants you to have for promotion.

Plus, my students have made sales within 2 weeks of completing the 7-day course because they have a good zRank score and made products correctly (which you also learn how to do in the course).

Zazzle Tip # 5: Review your Zazzle product links when you promote

Are you promoting on your blog or social media sites such as Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter? That is fabulous if you are actively promoting, but make sure you benefit from your efforts.

Check to make sure your links are active. Click through a few and make sure they take customers to your Zazzle products. That way your customers can find your products.

Zazzle Tip # 6: Make sure you receive your referral payments

Check your code on your Zazzle links. The links should have your Zazzle associate ID. This code is automatically added if you use the Zazzle share buttons. But if you make your own links to your blog for example, make sure your associate ID is attached.

Zazzle Tip # 7: Add your tracking code

Your Zazzle promotion links should also have a tracking code added to the end of each link so you can use this information to determine what social media strategy worked best for you. Check out my article for information on how to add your tracking code and use collections to promote.

Zazzle Tip # 8: Use last year’s sales results to increase this year’s Black Friday 2017 results

If you have sales data from last year, then use that information to gear up for Black Friday 2017 and Cyber Monday 2017. Take some time to review your sales from that time period in 2016. It might give you some great AH HA! moments and allow you to narrow down what products to post for sale and promote for this upcoming 2017 US Thanksgiving weekend online sales opportunity.

What you learned in this article:

  1. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the highest online sales days of the year. Make sure you are ready to profit from these days by having great designs on popular products.
  2. The timing of making products and promoting the is different and important to adhere to for maximum results
  3. When promoting your Zazzle products on social media and your website, make sure your links are active and have your referral code and a tracking code.

What do you do when social media promotions fails you? I cannot afford facebook advertising or Pinterest advertising. And I have heard of people unfriending and unfollowing friends due to promoting products on their social media page (the seller’s page not the friend’s) Some FB groups help with promoting but you get nothing out of it. (Only on that I am in has actually somewhat helped with Zazzle)
I know a lot of people push social media promotions and claim that it helps bring in a ton of sales but what if it doesn’t?

Thank you so much for the response and ideas! And thank you for letting me know with the napkins!!! I have been experiencing some Zazzle glitches and didn’t realize the template didn’t go through!I will for sure take your ideas and suggestions to heart! I have been lately looking at wedding invites and such at Walmart and places that sell cards to get some ideas.Thank you again 😀
(I cannot afford your classes but I will keep your blog bookmarked to keep watch over with 🙂 )

      Hello,
So grateful for this article. I stumbled across one of your articles in March of this year and joined zazzle. You are such an inspiration. I just received an editors pick for one of my designs for the Holidayz contest and am hopeful to see some sales this season from that design. I have been promoting through social media and seen no results via referral, though many items are pinned etc. I am only in my 7th month with zazzle, but I feel that I am lacking greatly in marketing my stores. Does it take years to see results using social media to promote, or am I missing something?
