It may be a little early to be spring cleaning your house, but it is time to spring clean your Zazzle store. The holiday season is over, and Valentine’s Day has come and gone. Both of these as key sales times on Zazzle. Now is the time to get ready for the spring and summer seasons by modifying several areas in your Zazzle store to reflect this seasonal change. Keeping your store current with the sales cycles on Zazzle will maximize your sales potential.

1. Refresh Your Zazzle Store Banner

My Zazzle store banner was showcasing holiday cards for several weeks into February when I realized it was not appropriate. Things just got busy and I totally forgot. If this happened to you, now is the time to switch out the banner to something more appropriate to what is currently selling or about to sell in the coming months.

BENEFIT

The store banner is a great place to showcase some of your store products. It is like billboard advertising for your products.

I switched my banner to one showcasing my Save the Date cards for February (see the image above).

TIPS FOR MAXIMUM BENEFIT
  1. Showcase items that are in demand for that time of year.
  2. Do not overcrowd your banner with too many items
  3. Make sure the items are all to scale relative to each other and fit into a “scene”. “Floating” items look unprofessional.

2. Change the Order of Your Store Categories

In a previous article, I wrote about changing the order of your store categories to show the most relevant ones at the top of your category section.

You should do the “spring clean” every few months based on what is in your store and the type of products popular for that time of year.

BENEFIT

This makes it easier for customers to find what they are looking for, without them having to scroll through many non-relevant category icons first.

TIPS FOR MAXIMUM BENEFIT
  1. Move store categories that are not in the current buying cycle, to the bottom of your categories on the homepage. In the image above you can see that I moved my “Holidays” category to the bottom of the list and moved “Wedding” and “Baby” to the top.
  2. Update store icons if the dates on your product images are from a previous year or the items in your image are no longer for sale in your store

3. Select What to Showcase on Your Zazzle Store Homepage

Take advantage of the options under your advanced store settings and modify what appears on your store homepage by doing a “spring clean”.

BENEFIT

The homepage is what the customer lands on when coming to your store. You need to make a good impression for the customer to stick around. You have 3 seconds to do so. Make sure to give them what they are looking for.

TIPS FOR MAXIMUM BENEFIT
  1. Under the product tab, choose a category specific to the time of year. The image above, shows that I now have mine set to “Wedding” products. In your case, it may be the same or you can have something else like Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, or sports themes, or home decor, depending on what you are selling.
  2. Instead of choosing to show all of your collections in a random order, try selecting the “Featured Collection” option (see the image above). Then choose your collection. I chose “Baby Birth Announcements“. You could have a collection of bridal shower items, President Trump items, Nevertheless, She Persisted Items or tropical beach wedding items.

As you can see, there are many options. It will depend on your store niche and what you have available for sale. Use this option to modify the homepage view to help customers focus on the products they are most likely looking for when they visit your store.

4. Spring Clean the Media Files in Your Zazzle Store

You added your media files as a requirement for your Zazzle store completion. Then you probably forgot about them.

BENEFIT

The media files are another powerful advertising option for customers to either see your products or find out more about you and your brand.

Remember that the media files show up on the right-hand side of your home page (on a computer) and on your about page.

TIPS FOR MAXIMUM BENEFIT
  1. Switch the order of your media images to make sure the top 5 showing on your homepage suit the sales season. In the image above, I show how I moved my “Holiday” themed images to the bottom of the list, while the images showing “Spring and Summer” items moved to the top.
  2. If you have created new products, why not make a few new media files and add them?

5. Spring Clean the Content of Your Zazzle Collections

You can update existing collections by adding new products to them or creating a new collection. Either way, don’t forget about the collections you have made in the past. They are all still out there promoting your store on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, and websites. If they contain products that are outdated, now is the time to do a spring clean.

BENEFIT

This helps refresh your collections and may give them more views both on Zazzle and externally on social media. More views mean a higher chance of sales for you.

TIPS FOR MAXIMUM BENEFIT
  1. Add your newest products to a collection.
  2. Make sure the collection has a banner image, title, and description.
  3. “Organize” the items so they showcase your newly added products, preferably near the top.
  4. Share on social media using the  “share” option on the collections page.

6. Update Your Zazzle Collection Icons and Product Order

Collections are seen on Zazzle and via external social media promotion in the 3 or 5-image format  (see image above). It is therefore important to pay attention to what they look like.

BENEFIT

You have to tempt customers to click on your collection so that they will then click through to a product and buy. First impressions are important with collections if you want them to act as advertisements for your products.

I have chosen to add a cover image to these collections because they are groupings of items, like “Save the Date Cards”, “Baby Announcements” and “Thank You Cards”. (See above image.) Because of that, the first product in the collection shows up in the first box underneath the bigger top area.

TIPS FOR MAXIMUM BENEFIT
  1. When using a collection cover image, make sure the first 2 products shown are not the same as the product showcased in your cover image. If so change the order.
  2. If you are using products with a date in the cover image, make sure it is the current date or one in the future. (See above image). If not, change it out for a current image or one that has no date. It is these small things that are important. People don’t want to buy out-of-date items. They will think it is last year’s style and you may lose the sale.

Things you learned in this article:

  1. Do a spring clean of your Zazzle store every few months to keep your store homepage  looking professional and enticing to your customers
  2. Update out-of-date category and collection icons and strategically place the order of items for maximum sales opportunities
  3. Update your banner with seasonal products, if you are using products in your store banner
  4. Create new collections (or add to existing ones) with new products that you have made
  5. Take advantage of the advanced store settings for your homepage views to give maximum visibility of seasonally searched products by customers
